I’m doing my first Olympic length triathlon this weekend. 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run. I think I’ll be fine if I can survive the swim, which is further than I have ever swum before. In my favour, we will have a slight current behind us, and it should be easier to swim in the ocean than my normal pool (salt water buoyancy!).
I have been training for quite a while and will be pretty relieved when it is over and I can drop the swimming and cycling.
I’ve stocked up my favourite stout at home, along with rocky road and caramel slice and a large bag of chips. If that thought doesn’t get me across the finish line, nothing will.
